Student Profile Criteria

Good profiles:
-May use metaphors and similes
-Have descriptions to paint a picture for the reader
-Connect with the reader
-Contain emotional content
-Are Entertaining
-Show rather than tell
-Makes the writer is a character too
-Provide a sense of immediacy
-Are well crafted-nicely put together and organized even at the sentence-level with careful word choices and transitions
-Has a point (and this point may not have anything to do with the person profiled - think of the themes of the selected profiles we read in class)

To bring a person alive, we may try describing:
-Clothes in service of personality
-Gestures
-Dialogue
-Actions
-Things they like
-The writer's own reactions to the person
-Adjectives
-The profilee's reactions to the writer
